Metropolitan State University of Denver faculty members face many academic procedures that require paperwork to be completed within a specific timeline, sometimes making it hard to keep track of all necessary details. To help, the Office of Faculty Affairs determined to find a way to increase efficiency and intuitiveness through community engagement, accessible scaffolding and easy-to-follow steps for faculty-related processes.

In addition to the Leaders Academy programs, Portfolio Preparation Workshops and a Faculty Affairs Canvas course, the Office of Faculty Affairs has also launched a SharePoint site to guide faculty members, department chairs, associate deans, deans and other academic leaders through many of the processes requiring specific paperwork and detailed timelines. Some of the supporting materials available include downloadable and fillable PDF forms for Financial Aid and Scholarships Grant applications, Provost Mini-Grant applications, emeritus nominations and Faculty Employee Handbook revision proposals.

The SharePoint layout should be easy to navigate while quickly guiding users to information. The subpages will have document libraries where users can download forms to ensure that the correct information is provided the first time. Next to these document libraries is a clickable link that will pull up a preformatted email to contact the Office of Faculty Affairs for submission or questions. All faculty members can access the Sharepoint site without requesting, but administrators will have to request and be approved to see it.

Office of Faculty Affairs products (website, SharePoint, Canvas, etc.) are here to make faculty members’ jobs easier. Please email any suggestions or questions to Jake Leask, assistant to the Office of Faculty Affairs.
