Each month, the Early Bird highlights a few faculty and staff members who have served as subject-matter experts on timely news topics, providing dynamic perspectives on critical issues.

Kerline Eglaus, executive Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships, spoke with 9News, Colorado Sun, KOA Radio about MSU Denver’s response to FAFSA delays, which include extending the financial aid priority deadline from March 1st to May 3rd to ensure students feel adequately supported. A RED story contributed to coverage. 

Kishore Kulkarni, Economics professor, interviewed with CBS4 to discuss price increases and changes in consumer spending habits post-pandemic. He also interviewed with Scripps News for two separate interviews, one regarding Cookie Monster’s comments on shrinkflation, its underlying causes and another addressing federal antitrust concerns regarding airline and grocery mergers.   

Ben Dyhr, Mathematics and Statistics professor, interviewed with CBS4, FOX31 and CW2 to discuss strategies that leverage math to create successful March Madness brackets. A RED story contributed to coverage.   

Keah Schuenemann, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences professor, interviewed with the Denver Post to discuss the correlation between climate patterns and gardening, emphasizing the crucial role of sustainable gardening practices in mitigating climate change.
