2025 marked the 60th anniversary of MSU Denver, and to honor this milestone, the university integrated the celebration into the annual Homecoming events. For the first time, the College of Business took part in the traditional office decorating contest. Our incredible team led by Laurie Nakauchi along with Donna Ries, Lindsey Wadle, Nour Itani, and Michael Zastrow brought a creative and heartfelt tribute to life with the theme: “Fearless at 60.”

What Our Theme Means

The theme was all about honoring six decades of boldness, innovation, and fearless spirit that has defined our faculty, staff, and students. One of the highlights was a unique AI-powered experience where we transformed photos of our faculty and staff to show what they might look like at 60 years old. Then, each participant chose a fearless activity to showcase whether it was skydiving, hiking, or pursuing a lifelong passion, capturing the essence of courage at every age.

We also asked faculty and staff to share what being fearless meant to them, gathering inspiring quotes that reflected the diverse ways MSU Denver’s community embraces challenges and growth.

To add a nostalgic touch, we brought in candy favorites from the era when MSU Denver was founded and put together a slideshow featuring old campus photos. Visitors enjoyed browsing through past MSU Denver catalogs and checking out vintage t-shirts that brought back memories and sparked conversations about the university’s rich history.

The newly renovated Dean’s Office lobby became the perfect setting for this celebration, beautifully decorated to honor the past while inspiring the future.

This event was a wonderful reminder of how fearless spirit has powered MSU Denver for 60 years, and how it will continue to drive us forward for many more. A huge thank you to Laurie, Donna, Lindsey, Nour, and Michael for their creativity and dedication in making this celebration so special!
