While therapy in general can help when you’re going through a difficult time, group therapy is a highly effective option available to you.

In fact, group therapy can be even more powerful than individual therapy, especially if you’re dealing with:

  • Stress
  • Social anxiety
  • Loneliness
  • Relationship problems
  • and more

So, what is group therapy?

Group therapy may focus on a specific topic, such as social anxiety or coping skills, or offer more general support for whatever you may be going through.

While it may sound intimidating at first to talk about yourself with a group of strangers, many students find their experience in group therapy helps them feel less alone and more connected to others.

At the Counseling Center, group leaders are there to help guide the discussion and facilitate a space where members feel safe to share with the group. Therapy groups often include four to 10 members, who are led by one or two mental health therapists. We offer group therapy every day.
