The U.S. is in the middle of a demographic shift that is reshaping who gets hired in health care, long-term care, and community services. Demand for people who can manage and coordinate those services is growing fast.
Employment of medical and health services managers is projected to grow 23 percent from 2024 to 2034, much faster than the average for all occupations, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The median annual wage for those roles was $117,960 in May 2024. Much of that growth is driven by an aging population and rising demand for services that support older adults.
The Online Aging Services Certificate builds the foundation for that kind of work. You’ll study gerontology, the cultural and physical realities of aging, long-term care operations, and the administrative side of managing services for older adults. The 12 elective credits let you lean into the direction that fits your goals, whether that’s long-term care administration, community health, or health care management.
If you’re already working in aging services and want to move into a role with more responsibility, the certificate gives you the academic credential to support that move. If you’re coming to this field from somewhere else, it’s a way to build credible knowledge in a sector that is actively hiring. Either way, the credits apply toward MSU Denver’s Aging Services Leadership degree if you decide to keep going.
