For many students, the start of the semester is when financial aid feels finished. But your financial aid eligibility may continue to change as your enrollment and other information are reviewed.
At MSU Denver, the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is processing student aid eligibility through the census date on Wednesday, September 2nd. If you see something different in your financial aid information, don’t assume something has gone wrong. Start by reviewing your information and checking your MSU Denver email for any additional instructions.
Starting with the 2026 – 27 academic year, those ongoing reviews are happening alongside significant changes to federal financial aid policy
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) introduced new federal financial aid rules beginning July 1, 2026. These changes affect student loan eligibility and borrowing for some students, including changes to borrowing limits, Parent PLUS and graduate student loans.
Not every student will be affected by these changes in the same way.
Student Borrower Scenarios can help explain how some of these changes may apply based on a student’s circumstances.
Eligibility can depend on your FAFSA information, how many credits you’re taking, your academic program, completed requirements and other factors.
That means information you hear from a friend, see on social media or read in the news may not apply to your situation.
If your financial aid information changes, or you’re waiting for an update, start by checking your own MSU Denver financial aid information and student email.
The financial aid environment is complicated right now, and we’re navigating that uncertainty right alongside you! Our main goal, however, remains straightforward: help you understand your aid, your options and what you need to succeed.
The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is open Monday through Friday on the first floor of the Jordan Student Success Building (JSSB). Walk-up assistance is available and can be a good way to connect with an expert about your questions.
You may also email Financial Aid & Scholarships or call the Financial Aid line at 303-556-8593. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to serve as many students as possible during this busy time.
