Dear Roadrunners,

Like many of you, I was concerned by the recent news about the potential establishment of a narrower definition of gender.

While the federal government has made no official policy announcement, I want to reaffirm MSU Denver’s support for our LGBTQ community and, in particular, our students, faculty and staff who identify as transgender, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, genderqueer and intersex. Diversity, in all of its expressions, is one of our core values, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to educating students from every background, experience and identity.

If you want to process this news in a supportive environment, I encourage you to visit our LGBTQ Student Resource Center in Tivoli 213, or call them at 303-615-0515. And you can also always talk to someone at the MSU Denver Counseling Center by calling 303-615-9988. After-hours support can be accessed by calling 303-615-9911.

Please know that we will continue to monitor this situation closely and share any updates that impact our community.

Sincerely,

Janine Davidson, Ph.D.
President
MSU Denver
