Email from President Davidson

Oct. 29, 2018

Dear MSU Denver community,

Many of us are still processing this weekend’s tragic and senseless mass shootings at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh and in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. It has left us feeling deeply saddened and disturbed.

On behalf of Metropolitan State University of Denver, I want to extend our sincere condolences to all those families and friends affected by these horrific and divisive acts.

Among our most important core values is a commitment to diversity, and we are dedicated to co-creating an inclusive, respectful and safe learning environment. As a demonstration to this commitment and our solidarity, members of our Student Affairs and Diversity and Inclusion offices are working with their counterparts across the Auraria campus to remember the victims and take a stand against hate and prejudice. We will communicate details as soon as possible, with the intention to come together this week.

To the communities of Pittsburgh and Jeffersontown, and to the Jewish and African-American communities throughout our nation, the faculty, staff and students of MSU Denver stand united with you.

Sincerely,

Janine Davidson, Ph.D.
MSU Denver President
