Brief Description

Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to establish procedures for responding to reports of missing students, conducting preliminary wellness assessments, coordinating with law enforcement, and maintaining appropriate records in compliance with Colorado Senate Bill 26-120 / C.R.S. § 23-5-141(5, the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”), the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (“HEOA”), and other applicable federal and state laws.

This policy is intended to promote student safety through timely, coordinated, and documented institutional response efforts when a student is reported missing or cannot be located,

Scope: This policy applies to all enrolled students at MSU Denver (including students residing in both off campus and MSU Denver-controlled housing). This policy is applicable to all MSU Denver employees, departments, units, agents, contractors, and campus partners involved in responding to missing student reports.
