Please join us as we celebrate the collective work of speakers + poets + organizers + artists + musicians + filmmakers whose land-based practices center and inspire conversations around environmental protection and cultural connections.
Nurturing Roots is a gathering of speakers + poets + organizers + artists + musicians + filmmakers whose land-based work centers around and inspires conversation about environmental protection and cultural connections. Attendees will have an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and in activities with those committed to protecting the land, life, and culture in their communities. The event aims to strengthen our individual and collective work while we have fun, network, and share in entertainment.
Featuring: short presentations / poetry / music / information tables with local and regional organizations, silk screening, interactive networking opportunities, and a meal.
Nurturing Roots builds on prior iterations and collaborations with Indigenous communities, poets, filmmakers, and musicians who recognize deeply the challenges facing our environment. It is a celebration with others committed to protecting the next generation’s ability to live in balance with our changing environment. These roots grow deep below the surface and strengthen our connections. The organizers work in the humanities (film, art, poetry), education and organizing, and land-based work.
