Hal Haddon, Esq., and Beverly Haddon make planned gift to the MSU Denver Institute for Public Service.

Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Institute for Public Service has received a transformative gift to empower the next generation of public service leaders.

The planned gift from Hal Haddon, Esq., and his wife, Beverly Haddon, provides MSU Denver students with career development, innovative experiential learning opportunities and pioneering curricular programs, inspiring and preparing them for a life of service. Hal served on the Hart Center for Public Service board, which merged its programs with the University in 2022.

Led by Inaugural Director Shaun LaBarre, a 2013 alumnus, the institute is a hub for civic engagement, emphasizing careers in government and the non-profit sector. “My hope is for the Institute for Public Service to provide the opportunity for this generation of students to live their values,” he said.

“Spending the summer as a paid intern in Washington, D.C., was an amazing opportunity to learn about social work policy in the place where our nation’s policies are enacted. Being surrounded by people who are passionate about what they do was inspiring. Now, I’m even more pumped to get into policy work!”
