Bio
I teach courses in health policy, environmental health, principles of public health, strategic management in health care, health care management and organization, human resources, and a health care leadership graduate course.
I previously worked at Denver Health and Hospital Authority (Denver Health) for nearly 22 years. I served in several roles: Senior Public Health Planner and Manager of the Tobacco Control Program within the Community Health Promotion Division at the Public Health Institute at Denver Health (PHIDH) – a department of Denver Health; leading Change Management Teams at Denver Health; serving on many systems change committees; and serving as a change advisor at Denver Health on human resources and Information Technology changes.
I have provided coaching and consultation to hospital executives and leadership/management locally, statewide, and nationally to implement tobacco free hospital campus policies and address other public health issues. I serve on several state and local health committees: the Colorado Cancer Coalition, Leadership Advisory Team for Smoke-free Multi-unit Housing, and the Healthy Housing Coalition.
I have also served in the non-profit sector at the American Lung Association (ALA) and the Colorado Public Health Association. At the ALA, I implemented several tobacco control and radon grants. I also worked on an Environmental Protection Agency grant for the Lung Friendly Schools Initiative in Tribal communities and schools in Montana. At the Colorado Public Health Association, I served as the Colorado Policy Director and then as President.
I am currently a PhD student in a Leadership, Innovation, and Continuous Improvement program.
