Biography

I specialize in American History after 1865, including the History of Politics, Workers, Women, and the West. As a former high school history and government teacher, I remain interested in history education and the preparation of effective teachers.
A recent project, written with my History Department colleague Meg Frisbee, focused on K-12 students of history: Colorado History Detectives: Teaching Historical Literacy to School-Aged Readers: https://coloradohistorydetectives.pressbooks.com/.
In 2010 I completed a study of politics and activism in Colorado during the early 20th Century: The Gospel of Progressivism: Moral Reform and Labor War in Colorado, 1900-1930
