Biography

With over 30 years of yoga teaching and training experience across the globe—including in Latvia, Japan, Australia, India, and the USA—and an M.S. in Physics and Education, my approach to teaching yoga is grounded in both logic and science. After studying with several internationally known teachers, I found a deep need to understand the underlying principles of yoga rather than just performing advanced poses. This led me to the Satyananda School of Yoga, which seamlessly combines traditional approaches with modern science, emphasizing physical poses, breathing exercises, yogic relaxation, and the theory of yogic philosophy and psychology.
I am uniquely equipped to teach yoga to students from all walks of life, having worked with children, adults, veterans, and university students. For nearly 20 years, I have taught academic yoga at Metropolitan State University of Denver. During my tenure, I have created specialized classes and workshops, including "Yoga for Anxiety Management," "Yoga for Weight Management," and "Yoga as a Science of Well-Being."
Currently, my curriculum explores the intersection of ancient yoga philosophy and modern neuroscience, mapping concepts like the Antahkarana, Samskaras, Chakras, and Pranayama to the Default Mode Network and the prefrontal cortex. Alongside my academic teaching, I direct the SVETYOGA online educational platform, offering digital resources and self-paced programs such as the Ancient Architecture of the Modern Mind series.
