Teaching Interests

Over the course of my saxophone teaching career, I have developed a teaching philosophy that balances the nurturing of curiosity and creativity with the development of fundamental music skills (general and instrument-specific) through pedagogically and historically-relevant repertoire and established performance practices. By modeling professional standards and encouraging the exploration of self-expression, I seek to instill in my students a commitment to musical growth, a respect for musical traditions, a passion for forging musical connections with their audiences, students, and colleagues, and the skills necessary to become self-reliant learners.
