Brent Balazs

Professor of Aerospace Science

Biography

I joined the faculty after 25 years as a flying officer in the U.S. Air Force. I hold FAA qualifications as a CFI, CFII, and MEI. My specialty areas include military counseling, ground training and flight simulation.

Research Interests

    I am particularly interested in human factors issues and the difficulties presented as today's pilots transition from traditional cockpit instrumentation to modern digital glass equipment. I'm also involved in our department's efforts to increase the availability of computer-based education tools into the regular classroom environment.

Teaching Interests

    Within the Aviation Department, I teach aerodynamics, private, instrument, and commercial ground schools, and both single engine and multiengine turboprop simulator courses.
