Biography

After receiving a B.A. in French from the Montclair State College (NJ) in 1967, Dr. Ranwez pursued graduate study in French and Italian Literatures at the University of Missouri thanks to an NDEA Scholarship for graduate studies. He was awarded the Ph.D. in 1973. He has also studied at the University of Chicago, Washington University, and Princeton University thanks to grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Every year he takes MSCD students for a four week study program (June) in Hyères, France, situated between Nice and Marseille. For further information please contact his office

Research Interests

    He is the author of "Jean-Paul Sartre's Les Temps Modernes: A Literary History" (Whitston Publishing Co. 1981) and a number of articles on both literature and pedagogy. In addition to teaching French Language and Culture courses his interests include French theatre and has been an actor with the Alliance and Co. French Repertory for twenty years. He is also an active reviewer of fictional works for "The French Review."
