Fall 2025 witnessed record-breaking numbers from CBUS Advisors’ academic plans

Despite faculty being the ones providing our students the education itself, advisors are the ones who help them get wherever they wish to go. It’s much more than just advising; it’s mentoring, guiding, planning, counseling, and basically being a rudder that students turn to for any problem they face during their time at MSU Denver.

CBUS is proud to celebrate our advisors’ accomplishments this semester, and always, because not only do they represent our college to students, they also are an example of what students should look up to when it comes to hard work and dedication.

This time, we wanted to highlight all our advisors’ collective effort in creating academic plans for our students. In addition to providing advising through never-ending appointments, advisors take the liberty of creating academic plans for students as a means of giving them a detailed picture of what their chosen degree would look like, semester by semester.

“Academic Plans are semester course guides for students.  Produced by an academic advisor, the academic plan can include just one semester or be a complete multi-semester graduation plan. Students can easily access their Academic Plan via their Navigate app.  Faculty and Staff can also access the plans by going to Navigate, looking up a student’s record, and then selecting the Academic Plan tab.  Under the Planning Tools menu, expand the Sent Advisor Plans option.  If there is a plan, it will be visible to you.” – Wendy Walker, Advising Coordinator, College of Business

For October alone, we had 500+ plans submitted, and 4 CBUS advisors in the top 7 total producers across MSU Denver. The following 4 advisors are:

Top Advisor: 1st place: Alice McClendon with 143 sent plans

2nd place: Joseph Cao with 127 sent plans

4th place: Celeste Lopez-Ponce with 109 sent plans

7th place: Donelyn Jones with 93 sent plans

We are incredibly proud and lucky to have such amazing advisors who represent a symbol of exemplary work ethic, care, and dedication. CBUS continues to be in awe of its staff who usually aren’t at the forefront of students’ education, but are its essential backbone, that if lost, students’ education would be lost alongside it as well.

Thank you to all our advisors along with the top 4, as well as Wendy Walker, for your continued efforts in making our school and CBUS the best it can be.
