Roadrunners,

Although we probably all suspected that the Fall semester would not be a “return to normal”, it could be assumed that none of us expected it to be as difficult as it is. Many of us are experiencing heightened stress, workloads that feel overwhelming, and a general sense of having “hit a wall” much earlier in the semester than usual. While this note cannot truly provide relief from these feelings, it is our hope that by recognizing this exhaustion and noting that it is a shared feeling across campus, we can help each other out and get through it together. We can share a smile (even if it is covered by a mask), and practice grace when something doesn’t go quite as it should.

Please also know that there are resources available that can help. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis and it is between 8 a.m-5 p.m., M-F, you may call our Counseling Center at 303-615-9988.  The Counseling Center staff is sensitized to the issues facing our students and will be pleased to help you navigate some of these often unexpected and difficult emotions in these abnormal situations, and provide as much support as you need.  After 5 p.m, and on weekends and holidays you may call our 24/7 Mental Health & Victims Assistance Crisis  Line at 303-615-9911.

Additionally, The Health Center at Auraria can serve as a support during these trying times.  The Health Center’s mental health team is ready, willing and able to provide timely trauma-informed care to those in need.  Call 303-615-9999 to connect with a mental health provider or utilize walk-in services in Plaza Building 150.  The Health Center is available M-Th 8a-5p and Friday 8a-3p.

The Student Care Center is also available to support students who may be struggling connecting to resources regarding their mental health, housing insecurity, food insecurity or any life challenges that may impact your ability to focus on your classes. Please call 303-615-0006 or fill out a CARE Referral  if you would like the Student Care Center to contact you.

Be kind to yourself and others! And remember that we, at MSU Denver, care about you.
