MSU Denver will be closed Monday, Jan. 20 for the MLK holiday.

Metropolitan State University of Denver’s acclaimed podcast, Bird Talk, recently highlighted the inspiring journey of alumnus Jeremi Medina. A 2021 graduate with an individualized degree in society, health, and policy, Medina’s episode explored his dedication to community advocacy, his experiences as MSU Denver’s student body president, and his commitment to creating opportunities for marginalized communities.

Medina exemplifies MSU Denver’s legacy of changemakers. From his roots as a first-generation college student and descendant of the displaced Auraria community to his achievements in public service, Medina’s story is one of resilience, leadership, and community impact. He currently serves as a board member for the Rocky Mountain Young Invincibles, Vice Chair of the Colorado Young Democrats, and as one of the youngest delegates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

During the podcast, Medina reflected on his journey through MSU Denver, where he discovered a connection to his family’s history and cultivated the leadership skills that propelled him into public service. “MSU Denver showed me my road and gave me the tools to run it,” said Medina. He shared how his time in student government, particularly during the transition to a shared governance model, shaped his career path and philosophy of leadership.

Medina’s story embodies the transformative power of education and the importance of community engagement. “Jeremi’s passion for advocacy and his commitment to making an impact inspire all of us,” said Bird Talk host Jamie Hurst. “He reminds us that anything is possible when you run your own road.”
