Biography

Last chance to get your digs in. I'm contracted to retire from MSU Denver permanently after over 22 years of full-time classroom teaching, campus service, and professional activities. My career in higher education began in 1984 so 31 years is enough and it's time to let younger techno teachers have their shot. If anybody wants to contact me, forget about it, cuz I'll be unavailable to all but family, real friends, and my dog Sancho. The History Department will forward important messages to me.

However, I will soon be awarded Emeritus Associate Professor at MSUD. And I will be elected as Metro State Faculty Federation representative to the Colorado Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO, Board of Directors. These duties may keep me in Denver for a few years.

Research Interests

If I'm still alive, I expect to participate in future commemorations of the 50th Anniversary of the Chicano militancy and Thurgood Marshall College at the University of California San Diego beginning in 2018.

I attended Spain-Morocco Summer Seminar, Council for International Educational Exchange, May 28-June 8, 2012, funded jointly by the United States State Department and Metro State University of Denver, Center for International Studies.

I presented my "Luis Maria Cabeza de Baca" paper using power point at the New Mexico Statehood Centennial Conference, Santa Fe Convention Center, May 5, 2012, 10AM panel presenter. Upon publication, I will add family archives and photos to the Vincent C. de Baca Collection in the Fr. Angelico Chavez Library, Governor's Palace, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
