Biography

Dr. Gerard Morris is a professor in the CIS Department. He has a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry (1981) and an MBA with a concentration in Information Systems (1984). A sabbatical at the University of Basel in Switzerland in 1998-1999 was followed by the publication of two lab manuals (Windows NT Server and Windows 2000 Server). He has chaired the CIS Curriculum Committee for the last 12 years. He has also chaired the CIS Search Committee twice in recent years. Dr. Morris teaches and coordinates the three upper-division networking courses in the department. He is responsible for the curriculum section of the CIS Department’s ABET Self-Study for the accreditation and re-accreditation processes. Dr. Morris is actively involved in advising students about their degree plans and possible career paths.
Dr. Morris is AACSB-qualified as Scholarly Academic. His professional development activities since 2010 include four peer-reviewed journal articles, and five papers in refereed proceedings, two of which won Meritorious Paper Awards. Dr. Morris has continued his education in his teaching field through technical workshops and seminars (over 53 full days of official technical training, for example Microsoft and Cisco official courses).
