CCWSC scholarships are available to full- and part-time BSW and MSW students enrolled at any of our partner universities, including those completing their degrees online and MSW Advanced Standing students. The scholarships include a competitive application & interview process and a limited number are available each year

These virtual information sessions will:
- Discuss the history of the CCWSC
- Explore child welfare practice and career options
- Include a current child welfare scholar or program alumni
- Review the 2026 – 2027 application process
- Answer your questions!
Each session will contain the same information with different guests in each one. These are open to anyone interested in learning more. Whether you are currently enrolled in a social work program or thinking about applying, these info sessions will provide you with the answers you seek!

Session Details
Available sessions include:
- Friday, 11/21 8:30 – 9:30am
- Thursday, 12/11 5 – 6pm
- Wednesday, 12/17 noon – 1pm
- Tuesday, 1/13 noon – 1pm
- Monday, 2/9 noon – 1pm
- Friday, 3/6 9-10am
- Wednesday, 4/1 4 -5pm
All sessions are hosted via Zoom and contain the same information so chose a date and time that works best for your schedule.
Application Instructions
New and returning scholarship applications for the 2026-2027 academic year are now open!
Returning Scholars: Applications are due by January 30th, 2026 @ 11:59pm!
New Scholars: It is highly recommended that you get your application in early. Scholars are selected on a rolling basis throughout Spring 2026. Applications are due by 11:59pm on one of the dates outlined below:
- Monday, January 30th
- Friday, February 20th
- Friday, March 20th
- Monday, April 20th
Applications submitted after these dates will be rolled into the following due date. No applications will be accepted after the April 20th deadline.
In addition to your essays, you will need the following:
- Resume: Please provide a 1-2 page updated resumé (including educational and work/volunteer experience).
- Reference Requests: All reference requests will be submitted through the online application – you will need the name & contact information for all people submitting references on your behalf. Letters of recommendation are not required.
- First time applicants: Two reference requests are required and should come from someone who is acquainted with your writing skills, personal qualities and your professional goals. If applicable, they should also be knowledgeable about child welfare.
- Returning Scholars: One reference request is required and should come from your current field instructor or internship coordinator.
- County employees: One reference request MUST be from your current child welfare supervisor.
International students attending a social work program in Colorado currently face challenges in meeting the post-graduation work requirement of the child welfare scholars program due to visa restrictions, making them ineligible for this scholarship.
