Internet & Network Access

Remote Access (GlobalProtect)

The GlobalProtect remote-access solution provides a way to access secured University resources – such as Banner Admin Pages, internal or departmental file servers, or the Information Technology Services support website – from off-campus. If you need to access a secured resource while working remotely, please fill out the  form.

Please note GlobalProtect is only needed to access secure University resources. Many University network services – such as Office 365 services (Outlook email, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.), Blackboard, and Chrome River – can be accessed through any internet connection and used to work remotely.

Internet Access

Here are a couple options if you do not have internet access in your home:

  • You may be able to access WiFi or a hotspot through your cellular plan. If your cellular plan allows your cell phone to serve as a hotspot, research how to use this functionality (also known as WiFi tethering), which allows you to connect your computer or tablet to the internet through your cellular plan. Please note this may cost extra, so be sure to review your plan or contact your cell provider.
  • Although the service is not affiliated with the University, Comcast is offering 60 days of free internet access to low-income customers who live in a Comcast service area. Check Comcast’s Internet Essentials program webpage for more information and to see if you qualify.
