Run Your Own Road
WHERE CAN A DEGREE IN BIOLOGY AND A PASSION FOR RESEARCH TAKE YOU?
With a start at MSU Denver, this DNA expert has moved to the head of a classroom, to the inside of courthouses, and to the heart of forensic research.
Dr. Phillip Danielson’s career journey wasn’t nearly as precise as the lab work he does today. He graduated a year early from Abraham Lincoln High School in Denver, but being the first in his family to even consider college, he had no idea for where to attend. When he was recruited to study biology at MSU Denver, he ran with it. Always the overachiever, he completed his undergraduate degree in just two years and was destined for higher achievements. Today, Danielson is a DNA expert who serves as a professor of molecular biology at the University of Denver. While he is accomplished across several scientific fields, his work in crime-related forensics is what grabs people’s attention.
“Basically, my research aims to improve the science behind forensic testing and provide more reliable test results for people in the criminal-justice system,” he says. “My motto is: truth through science. So I’m constantly striving to ensure that what appears before a jury in court is accurate, helpful, and scientifically sound.”
MSU Denver is proud to be a launchpad for all kinds of science lovers and many first-generation college students. Our array of opportunities in the sciences means each student can run their own road and follow where their talents take them.
This is where lives are transformed. Where new paths unfold. Where the future spreads out in front of you.
At MSU Denver, we celebrate that each person’s road is different. Where will yours take you?REQUEST INFORMATION APPLY TO MSU DENVER
