Remote Access Overview

MSU Denver ITS provides GlobalProtect as a remote access solution in circumstances where a student or employee needs to access campus resources from an off-campus location. GlobalProtect is a new service that was recently implemented to replace the old and outdated VPN system.

Two versions of GlobalProtect are available to users. The GlobalProtect Agent is the fully-featured version, and provides access to several services depending on a user's role with the University. These may include:

The GlobalProtect web client only provides limited access to browser-based services, such as the IT Services support website. ITS recommends using the GlobalProtect Agent in most cases, since most remotely-accessed services (including all of those listed above) will not be accessible on the clientless version.

GlobalProtect Access Request Form

If you would like to gain access to GlobalProtect, please fill out the GlobalProtect Access Request form. Access will be granted once ITS approves your request.

Please note that access to GlobalProtect will only be granted to users who have Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enabled on their MSU Denver Office 365 account. Please visit the MFA Knowledgebase page for more information.

Note: You can install the GlobalProtect client on managed MSU Denver computers from Software Center (Windows) or Self Service (Mac). Please see the Self Service FAQ for instructions on installing software on a managed computer.

If you have already installed the GlobalProtect client, please skip to step 5.
