Banner is an administrative software application composed of a suite of integrated modules that are designed to support certain aspects of institutional management. At MSU Denver, Banner is used to maintain student, financial, and personnel data using the following modules:

  • Student
  • Human Resources
  • Finance
  • Financial Aid
  • General

The systems are highly integrated because they all share a common database, which makes it easy for multiple departments to use the information entered into Banner. Banner provides the features and processing capabilities needed for student information (admissions, registration, etc.), human resources information (employee benefits, salary/deduction history, etc.), financial aid information (needs analysis, packaging, etc.), and finance information (general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc.). Banner has sophisticated security measures to make sure that only authorized individuals have access to specific data. Your access to the information in Banner is dependent on your role at the University.

Many of the Banner functions available to students are accessible from the Student Hub. Simply select the link that corresponds to what you want to do (e.g. Register, Pay Tuition, Search for Classes) and log in using your NetID and password.

Most of the Banner functions available to employees are accessible from the Faculty & Staff Hub, including pay information, leave reporting, and benefits information. Select the Employee Services Menu or the Self Service Banner link located under the 'Employee Systems, Services & Reporting' heading and log in using your NetID and password.

If your role at the University requires you to use Internet Native Banner (Banner Admin Pages), your manager will need to request access for you. Please visit the 'What is Banner?' webpage to request a Banner account.
