MASTER OF ARTS IN TEACHING: SPECIAL EDUCATION

Thinking about becoming a Special Education Teacher?

This Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program was designed for people who are pursuing a master's degree along with a generalist Special Education license to teach in grades kindergarten through 12th grade. The MAT Special Education program provides candidates with a case-based curriculum designed to prepare candidates to meet the needs of children and adolescents with mild to severe disabilities.

To learn more about applying for this program, please visit our Colorado EL Standards page.

Important Note: Students in all MAT programs must satisfy the Colorado EL Standards requirements in order to earn recommendation for licensure upon successful completion of the program.  Coursework in addition to your degree program may be necessary to meet the EL standards requirements.  Please see an appropriate School of Education faculty advisor to determine how to meet these requirements.
