With Canvas is up and running for this fall, MSU Denver has a number of topics to consider related to how it is administered and maintained into the future. Some of these topics will need to be addressed by the start of the spring, and some will be ongoing. All decisions will affect students, and no one knows what learning within Canvas is like better than you.
Therefore, MSU Denver would like to invite you to partake in serving on one of the committees below to better enhance the experience you have in Canvas. Not only will this be a great resume builder, but you will be provided with an opportunity to have a seat (and voice!) at the table where decisions are made about your learning experience.
If interested, please email Matt Griswold, Associate Vice President of Online Learning, at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and which committee you are interested in serving on. Please note that all participation in voluntary and seats are limited. Meetings will start in September.
Originality Checker Working Group (Time investment: 6 hours in Fall). Blackboard had a native originality checker (SafeAssign), but Canvas does not. This group will consider the implications of an originality check on instruction and if we should purchase one for spring use.
Canvas Data Committee (Time investment: ongoing, once a month then as needed). Arizona State University recently stated Canvas created 1 billion data points within two years. This committee will consider appropriate use of the data, access, and how it can be reported. It will also ask varying offices what support could be taken based on reporting.
Technology/Software Integration Committee (Time investment: ongoing, once a month then as needed). Currently there isn’t a formalized way for faculty to request additional software integrations into the LMS. This committee will field requests and consider functionality, security, accessibility, user size, funding, implementation and maintenance of new software tools.
Global Announcement Working Group (Time investment: 3 hours in fall, then over email). Canvas allows us to post messages to everyone, but every message pushes the course experience further down the page. This group will set criteria for global messages and field requests.
If interested, please email Matt Griswold, Associate Vice President of Online Learning, at email@example.com with your name and which committee you are interested in serving on.
