Music to our ears

Members of MSU Denver's jazz faculty recorded the soundtrack for documentary on PBS that airs Jan. 19.

HanberryMSU Denver music professor Don Byron recently composed and recorded original music for a new PBS "American Masters" installment called "Sighted Eyes/Feeling Heart," a documentary about the life of playwright, writer and activist Lorraine Hansberry, best known for her work, "A Raisin in the Sun."

Byron enlisted fellow MSU Denver Jazz Faculty colleagues Shane Endsley (trumpet), Justin Adams (piano), Dave Devine (guitar), Gonzalo Teppa (bass), and Dru Heller (drums) to record the score.

The film airs Friday, Jan. 19, at 9 p.m. on Rocky Mountain PBS.
