MSU Denver

2022-23 Student Advocacy Council Elections April 25th - May 6th, 2022

To support the transformation of Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver), the Student Advocacy Council (TSAC) advocates in the interest of all students, provides leadership opportunities, and enhances the university experience by unifying and empowering all of our students. MSU Denver TSAC is the formal representation of the student body to higher administration and faculty.

Positions for Candidacy are:

  • Student Trustee (1)
  • Student Advisory Committee to the Auraria Board (SACAB) Representative (2)
  • Student Advocacy Councilors (9)

Minimum Qualifications to Note:

Qualifications for TSAC Councilor as per TSAC Constitution:

  • Enrolled in at least a 1 credit course for each semester at MSU Denver while serving. (Not required to be enrolled during summer, however, must contribute and be available throughout summer months).
  • Not Under violation of the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Completion of an Authorization and Disclosure form
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint or willing to learn
  • Attends required training during summer months for becoming a new councilor.

Qualifications for Student Trustee as per State Law:

Grad Student

  • Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Background Check by University for employment purposes
  • Enrolled for a minimum of 3 credit hours per semester in Fall and Spring
  • Have earned at least 12 undergrad or 6 grad school credits from MSU by the beginning of the election cycle
  • Must be a resident of Colorado for at least 3 consecutive years prior to the election
  • Student Conduct Check
  • Must have at least one full academic year remaining at MSU Denver
  • Professor/Faculty Signature Form

Undergrad Student

  • Maintain a 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Background Check by University for employment purposes
  • Enrolled for a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester in Fall and Spring
  • Have earned at least 9 credit hours at MSU Denver by the beginning of the election cycle
  • Must be classified as Junior (academic standing) by the time of installment in office
  • Must be a resident of Colorado for at least 3 consecutive years prior to the election
  • Student Conduct Check
  • Must have at least one full academic year remaining at MSU Denver
  • Professor/Faculty Signature Form

Qualifications for SACAB Representative as per State Law:

Grad Student

  • Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Background Check by University for employment purposes
  • Enrolled for a minimum of 3 credit hours per semester in Fall and Spring
  • Have earned at least 12 undergrad or 6 grad school credits from MSU by the beginning of the election cycle
  • Must be a resident of Colorado for at least 3 consecutive years prior to the election
  • Student Conduct Check
  • Must have at least one full academic year remaining at MSU Denver
  • Professor/Faculty Signature Form

Undergrad Student

  • Maintain a 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Background Check by University for employment purposes
  • Enrolled for a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester in Fall and Spring
  • Have earned at least 9 credit hours at MSU Denver by the beginning of the election cycle
  • Must be a resident of Colorado for at least 3 consecutive years prior to the election
  • Student Conduct Check
  • Must have at least one full academic year remaining at MSU Denver
  • Professor/Faculty Signature Form

 

How to Vote!

All voting will take place online through RoadrunnerLink starting on Monday, April 25th till Friday, May 7th (by 11:45pm)

This year election services is implementing the “Single Transferable Vote” for MSU Denver. It is a method of voting which grants a larger amount of democratic participation for the voters.

Don’t worry it is extremely simple on you, the voters, end. Simply rank the candidates based on your preference.

 

General Instructions for how to vote this ballot:
• Rank your preferred candidates. ‘1’ is the highest rank, indicating your first choice. ‘2’ indicates your second choice, and so on.
• Only one candidate can receive a particular rank. This means that you cannot give two candidates a rank of ‘1’.
• You do not have to rank every candidate.
• You may rank up to 12 candidates, or all candidates if there are less than 12 in the pool.
• If you are voting for a write-in candidate, please make sure to include only their first and last names, and check to ensure that you spell their names correctly so your vote can be counted. Only include letters and spaces (no symbols or numbers).
• Do not write in the name of a candidate who is already included on the ballot.
