Kate McElwain

Kate is from Denver originally, but grew up mostly in Durango, CO. She graduated with a degree in English Literature from CU Boulder in 2015 and has maintained a love of books, writing, and language since then. Previous to the Student Care Center, Kate has worked in a variety of settings and held a number of different roles. This includes tutoring, voter registration, research, policy, advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as training facilitation and volunteer management. Above all, Kate is passionate about people and social justice. She is also currently pursuing a Master’s in Social Work at MSU Denver, focusing on macro social work and social policy. MSU Denver also happens to be where she went to daycare while her Dad was attending undergrad, so she has truly always been a Roadrunner. Outside of work, you can find her riding her bike, cooking, hiking, writing, playing board games, or anxiously awaiting the return of live music.
