Braedan (he, him, his), is a Senior at MSU Denver seeking a Political Science degree and is born and raised in Colorado. Braedan has been with SGA for three years and is MSU Denver's elected SGA President. Braedan plans to receive his Bachelor of Arts in May 2021! He plans to follow up with a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Emergency Management and Homeland Security from the University of Colorado Denver. Braedan uses his humor and bubbly personality to build rapport among students and staff to help serve as a more transition less liaison in SGA.

Alaura Ward is the student body's elected Student Trustee in SGA at MSU Denver. Alaura is a fourth-year first-gen, Political Science and Communication Studies student. She is an Alumna of the Colorado Latino Leadership Advocacy and Research Organizations (CLLARO) Capital Fellows Program, which allowed her to work at the Colorado State Capitol during the 2019 legislative session. Her passion is in advocacy and getting people involved in the legislative process. One of Alaura's main goals is to make SGA and MSU Denver a more inclusive place by including students in the conversation about university policies and procedures.

Birungi was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, raised as a refugee in Uganda. My name means good luck or something good because I was born during a time of conflict. Like many immigrants, migrated to the US for a better life. Studying psychology in hopes of helping refugees who are internally displaced and traumatized during conflicts. The pride of MSU Denver Roadrunners is diversity. Most of our diversity is found within immigrants. As an SGA SACAB Representative, I feel I'm already giving back to my community. MSU Denver makes me feel the community bond.

Sheldon (he, him, his, el), is a biracial MSU Denver student who is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communication Studies with a concentration on Rhetoric, Ethics, & Social Justice. His minor is in Legal Studies to later practice Immigration or Civil law. Sheldon grew up in many parts of Colorado from Montbello to Thornton to his new home Aurora. His mother is an immigrant from Juárez, Chihuahua and his African-American father is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sheldon’s is passionate about serving marginalized communities within an educational and legal context. Finally, he hopes to learn the guitar to play for his family in groupo.

Maryan (she, her, hers), is a First-Generation African college student born in Kenya and raised in Aurora, Colorado by two Somali immigrant parents from Somalia. She is an MSU Denver student who is currently pursuing an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in social work. Maryan was elected as a Senator for the SGA. Maryan is passionate about working with marginalized communities at the micro, mezzo, and macro level. Finally, a fun fact about Maryan is that she enjoys writing poems during her free time.

Bio:
Dr. Baron is a social worker and scholar-practitioner with 18 years of experience in private and public higher education administration. She currently serves as the Associate Dean for Equity and Student Engagement at the Metropolitan State University of Denver (the largest Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution in Colorado). She has a deep passion for equity and social justice leadership practices and developing and implementing student-centered identity-based culturally conscious programs and services that address equity-achievement gaps in higher education. She is a field instructor for the MSU Denver Graduate School of Social Work and has also developed and taught college preparation curriculum for underserved students through the Center for Urban Education.

Guillermo (he, him, his, el), is a First-Generation Latino college graduate born and raised in Aurora, Colorado by two Mexican immigrants from San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato Mexico. Guillermo received his Bachelor of Arts in Languages, Literature & Culture with a concentration in Spanish at Colorado State University, Fort-Collins ('15). Followed by his Master of Arts in Higher Education with a concentration in Diversity & Higher Learning from the University of Denver ('17). Guillermo’s passion lies in helping marginalized communities have access to and through college and creating intentional spaces in higher education for them to thrive and be their authentic selves.
