A message from Will Simpkins, Ed.D., vice president for Student Affairs

Nov. 30, 2020

Dear Roadrunners,

As we approach the end of the fall semester, I’d like to wish you luck on your final projects and exams and encourage you to access resources such as the Tutoring Center and make sure you’re prioritizing your mental health, too.

While you’re in the thick of studying for finals, I hope you’ll keep looking forward also and keep an eye on your degree progress and the ultimate goal of graduation. To that end, we have a new option to help you keep your academic progress on track.

MSU Denver will offer close to 50 accelerated spring courses on campus beginning in March in an effort to provide students access to more general studies courses and provide more choices for those who prefer face-to-face classes. These eight-week classes will be three-credit-hour courses, running from March 15-May 15.

We’ll also be offering accelerated spring courses online during that same time period, allowing students to complete some courses in half the typical time it takes whether they prefer online or in-person. The best of both worlds.

The face-to-face offerings will include small class sizes to maintain recommended physical distancing, so students can safely return to campus if they choose. The hope is that winter peaks for COVID-19 and seasonal influenza will have passed by mid-March.

We know 2020 has been a long year, and a lot of students have had to scale back their credit hours and take semesters off. We’re willing to meet you where you are and help you go further and faster to keep your degree on track.

All eligible students can enroll in any of these accelerated spring courses, with registration beginning today, Nov. 30. Register by Feb. 4, 2021, to make sure these courses count toward any financial aid you are eligible for. You can find more information about all of our spring courses in the Spring 2021 Registration Guide. If you have any questions or need help registering, please don’t hesitate to reach out to an advisor.

Sincerely,

Will Simpkins, Ed.D.
