About This Program

The minor in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) is designed for students who are interested in a career working with children, adolescents or adults, and emphasizes the family as an important developmental context. Available as an online or traditional degree, students learn about developmentally appropriate practices in working with these populations which employers may value in a variety of career settings, including hospitals, counseling, child care, schools and other social institutions.

The minor is a useful addition to students’ educational background who are pursuing majors in healthcare including nurses and physicians, education, business, human services and counseling, human resources, public relations, and occupational therapy.
