RTD EcoPass, vacation rollover announcements

A message from President Janine Davidson, Ph.D.

June 9, 2021

Dear Roadrunners,

As we prepare for MSU Denver to be fully operational in July, I want to acknowledge the incredible work of our faculty and staff over the past 15 months. We graduated more than 6,200 students during the pandemic, and that could not have happened without dedicated employees adapting and going above and beyond to ensure our students can be successful.

To help with the return to campus, I want to announce a couple of added employee benefits coming soon. First, MSU Denver is going to cover the cost of the RTD EcoPass for faculty and staff for the fall (July 1 to Dec. 31). Faculty and professional and classified staff members can get the pass from AHEC Parking & Transportation Services in the 7th Street Garage beginning the week of June 28.

Secondly, Human Resources will be suspending the employee leave rollover limit that would usually limit the number of vacation days that can be carried over to the next fiscal year. Normally, annual leave balances above 320 hours are reduced to that threshold each June 30, but we are suspending that until June 30, 2022. The maximum annual leave payout to employees who separate from the University will remain at 320 hours.

Between mandatory furloughs and the less-than-ideal circumstances to take vacations during the pandemic, I know many of us have had to delay or change our personal plans. I encourage everyone to take time off this summer to relax, unplug, and recharge after this demanding year. Whether you plan to explore the gorgeous mountains in our home state, venture beyond to see family and friends, or just reconnect to your favorite neighborhood restaurants and walks, summer is the time to unplug and enjoy your personal time. I look forward to seeing you all back on campus!

Sincerely,

President Janine Davidson, Ph.D.
