Rebecca Reid is a 2018 magna cum laude graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she majored in Organizational Communication and minored in Management. She began her career at MSU Denver as a student employee in Learning and Development, where she learned the value of engaging, experiential learning. Reid was responsible for managing and facilitating New Employee Orientation for full-time administrative staff, and through an internship within L&D she developed Time Empowerment, a training that aligns time-management strategies with an individual’s values and goals.
Upon graduation, Reid was promoted to a full-time professional role as Learning and Development Specialist, although she sees her role at the University as culture champion and change agent. Learning and organizational development provide a strong foundation for cultivating healthy and diverse organizational cultures. Reid approaches her work with a critical perspective that seeks to align organizational processes, symbols and activities with an organization’s mission and values. She has led and contributed to collaborations across departments and disciplines to develop and advance several University initiatives, including the Employee Tuition Benefit, University Policy Advisory Council, President’s Advisory Council on Culture and Workplace, the Cultural Humility Program through the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Crucial Conversations, the Professional Development Conference and Inclusive Leadership Integration.
As Staff Senate president, Reid will be focused on inclusively co-creating a healthy and diverse workplace culture where every Roadrunner can discover and fulfill their purpose. None of us can achieve excellence alone, so in collaboration with partners across campus, Reid will build bridges that advance innovation, leadership development, student employment and the employee experience at MSU Denver. She describes herself as an unapologetic optimist, influencer, change agent and lifelong learner with a passion for people and community.
