Holistic Review Process

The MSU Denver Dietetic Internship values diversity and uses a holistic review process when reviewing and selecting qualified applicants. Holistic review is defined as a flexible, individualized way of assessing an applicant’s capabilities by which balanced consideration is given to experiences, attributes, academic metrics, and how the individual might contribute to the profession. The Dietetic Internship Selection Committee members themselves come from diverse backgrounds and participate in annual diversity, equity and inclusion training.

All applications submitted through DICAS that are complete and meet the admission criteria and/or viewed as competitive will be reviewed by the Dietetic Internship director and Selection Committee and ranked according to standardized criteria. Balanced consideration is given to: experiences, personal attributes, academic metrics, and the applicant’s potential contribution to the profession of nutrition and dietetics.

Top applicants will be contacted for face-to-face or remote (via video conferencing) interviews. The interviews are an opportunity for applicants to share additional information about their qualifications, demonstrate their critical thinking skills, and learn more about the MSU Denver Dietetic Internship.  Applicants also complete a timed writing exercise at the conclusion of the interview. After thorough discussions of competitive applicants, the Applicant Review Committee will rank candidates for the matching process.
