About Bianca Thomas:
I currently teach private voice and music theory lessons to people of all ages and love being able to help people develop their craft. I’m looking forward to being able to teach choirs in schools and help develop the musicianship of young singers. I also love performing, and plan to perform throughout my teaching career.

Favorite Moments at MSU Denver:
My favorite ensemble moment is being an assistant conductor for MB Krueger this semester. It’s been so fun to work with my peers and to see my own growth in teaching and conducting. Lesson wise, seeing the growth that both Michelle and Dr. Bradley Thompson have helped me accomplish has been so fun to see. I’m so thankful for their dedication to my success.

Favorite Moments at MSU Denver:
I found that the lecturers in the music department not only care about students’ education, but also their growth and well being. The standard is very high, and I have really enjoyed being exposed to a variety of genres – an example being that I never saw myself being a part of a Mariachi band!

My first year on this campus was the 2019-20 school year. I was a computer science major at CU Denver. I played with MSU Denver’s orchestra in the spring. It was a Mendelssohn symphony and after that concert I knew I wanted to pursue music and MSU Denver was a great place to do it.

Favorite Moments at MSU Denver:
Having an accompanist in private lessons my freshman year for performance class was the first time I had ever worked with an accompanist, and it was also the first time I performed a solo on a stage. Some of my favorite memories so far have been performing on the mandolin in the Holiday Card in 2019, playing in the pit orchestra for Luisa Fernanda, and seeing the many incredibly talented faculty in their recitals.

Frank G. Edmonson Memorial Sound Engineering Endowed Scholarship

Degree Program:
Bachelor of Music Education

About Timothy Shea:
I have always been passionate about sharing music with others in one way or another, either through my years working at a record store, to teaching music lessons, and then into my work in event production, by helping to create high quality performances by providing quality stage, sound and lighting. I am humbled and thankful every day to be able to pursue some of my passions in life to make them into a career and MSU Denver is a big part of me realizing these goals.

Favorite Moments at MSU Denver:
My favorite part of my education at MSU Denver is being able to watch my fellow music students perform at convocations and recitals. It is always inspiring to me to see how talented the other music students are and to be able to witness them learn to take their talents to the stage. Music is such a great form of expression and art and it is very important to an enriched education to study it or at the least have it around you as an option.

Favorite Moments at MSU Denver:
Of every teacher, musical or not, Professor Komodore remains to be the greatest mentor I have had the privilege of studying under. He drives me to perfection and motivates me in ways I never could before. I certainly wouldn’t be the musician I am today without his support.

Bachelor of Music Education

Walker Hans (he/him/his) was born and raised in Colorado and loves exploring the beautiful hiking trails. He keeps a well-rounded lifestyle with physical fitness, professional development as a sound technician, volunteer work in child care, participation in a faith-based community, and IT support interning for his dad. As a first-generation student at MSU Denver, Walker hopes to set a positive example for his two awesome younger brothers. He currently pursues a Bachelor of Music Education because of his appreciation for musical experiences and his passion to help kids discover their potential and belonging in a world of opportunities.

Favorite Moments at MSU Denver:
Through my education in the MSU Denver music program, I have gratefully been able to experience music from around the world like Mariachi, Gamelan, Jazz, and a series of social justice concerts to name a few. Before college, my view was limited to traditional Western music, but the diversity of cultures represented at MSU Denver has expanded my perspective of this beautiful world we all share. Many of my professors emphasize being inclusive and responsive of this diversity, and I hope to mirror that in my classroom when I become a teacher.
