Minors in the School of Business
The School of Business offers nine minors in business and economics. Most minors require 18 credit hours plus prerequisites, if any. These minors (with the exception of economics) are designed primarily for non-business majors. A student may not take more than 30 credit hours in the School of Business without declaring a business major. The acceptance of transfer credits will be governed by standards and policies of the School of Business and its departments.
Students should choose a minor that will help them in their chosen career. The general business minor should be declared after consultation with the associate dean. Other minors should be declared with the help of a faculty advisor or department chair of the appropriate department.
Marketing Minor: Is This For Me?
The marketing minor provides the student with the opportunity to develop an understanding of business and sufficient familiarity with marketing skills to work in a business environment. This minor is particularly useful to those pursuing degree programs in such fields as Sports Industry Operations, Health Facility Operations, Hospitality Travel and Management, Journalism, Fine Art, and many others.

MKT 3000 Principles of Marketing
MKT 3310 Consumer Behavior
MKT 4520 Seminar in Marketing Management
MKT **** Marketing elective courses (2 courses)
Some things to be aware of as you complete your Minor in Marketing:
You must complete ENG1020, and SPE1010 PRIOR to enrolling in MKT 2040 Business Communications. These are General Studies requirements that most MSCD students have to complete as part of their studies.
You must complete 60 semester hours or more to enroll in MKT 3000 Principles of Marketing.
You must complete at least 12 hours in marketing courses PRIOR to enrolling in MKT 4520 Seminar in Marketing Management. This is the capstone course for minors and will draw on previous classes you have taken. The marketing elective course may be chosen from any courses offered by the Marketing Department that are not required for your minor or major.
