Intern Success Stories - Accounting
Larry Neu graduated from the Metro State in May 1976, holding down an internship during his last year of school. “I worked during the tax season and when April 15 came around I had to study for finals and had the CPA exam coming up,” remembers Larry. “It was a tough month.” But, that internship assured him an entree into the accounting field.
Larry worked for an oil company when the economic downtown in the 1980s forced a consolidation of the company in Houston. Choosing to stay in Denver, he started his own firm. “Metro had the highest passing rate on the CPA exam of any school in Colorado,” Larry said. Not surprisingly, he turned to Metro State to recruit interns.
All these years later, Larry has come full circle and now mentors his own interns. He motivates his interns to success with his creed, “You take ownership. You do your best. You ask questions.”
