Auditing a Course at the South Campus

Are you interested in taking a course for fun? No exams? No homework? Just a chance to learn about something that interests you?

Auditing a college course involves almost everything required when taking a college course for credit – except you are not evaluated for course participation, you do not need to complete the assignments, you do not receive a final grade, and no academic record is maintained. Courses may be audited without credit with the consent of the instructor and if seats are available.

To audit a class at the MSU Denver South Campus:

  • View the course schedule, Spring 2020 South Campus, to find a course that interests you.
  • Once you have found a course, complete the Audit/No Credit Registration Form, take it with you the first-course session to request permission from the instructor to audit the course.
  • When your instructor agrees and signs off on the form, proceed to our Student Information Desk, Room LL06, for payment.
  • Upon payment, you may go back to the class and the instructor will be notified that you have completed the process to audit the course.

At the end of the semester (or course if accelerated), you will receive a Certificate of Acknowledgement signed by the instructor.

The cost is $95 per credit hour. Students should arrive 30 minutes before the first class session in order to complete the form, have it signed by the instructor, and pay for the class. For more information, contact the MSU Denver South Campus at 303.721.1313.

Course audits are also available on MSU Denver's Main Campus. For more information, visit the Office of the Registrar. The cost and admissions process for a course audit on the main campus differs from those offered on the south campus.

Persons aged 60 and older may audit courses at no cost through the Metro Meritus Program. For more information, visit the Center for Individualized Learning.
