Aviation and Aerospace Open House

The Aviation and Aerospace Science Department at MSU Denver welcomes visitors to experience its state-of-the-art, $30-million flight and space simulation laboratory system. Visitors can spend time with faculty and students learning about and experiencing technologies used for advanced-aircraft flight training, unmanned aeronautical vehicle training, air-traffic control and flight-systems software. Guests will also have the opportunity to speak with experts and observe highly complex aerospace-simulation systems, command-and-control processes for satellite and other space-vehicle operation, and aerospace-related research projects, including equipment used for human factors analysis.

Join Beverage faculty from the School of HEaT for a tasting of our industry-partnered beer and wine. Scott Kerkmans, coordinator of our Beer Industry Program ( will present the beer he designed for President Davidson’s Inauguration. This easy-drinking yet subtly complex beer is named Next Peak as MSU Denver students are always looking at the next mountain they will be able to climb, and need a solid beer to do so with. Students from the Enology: Making of Wine course will also present their partner-produced wines from, orchestrated by the two-time Governor’s Cup award-winning winemaker Michelle Cleveland. Michael Wray, Ph.D., will be on hand to tour guests through the food and beverage laboratories that have become a center for hospitality education in the Denver region and beyond. The SpringHill Suites Downtown Denver hotel, Degree Restaurant, MSU Denver wine cellar, sensory-analysis lab, demonstration theater and culinary arts kitchens combine as some of the most renowned public-private partnership facilities for hospitality education in the country. These spaces, coupled with our on-campus brewery partner and the new brewing production and quality-analysis laboratories, have positioned the School of HEaT as one of the most engaged hospitality-education programs in the nation.

Get the inside scoop on our programs and learn about the exciting work we are doing in the world of education! See how we are tackling the teacher shortage by developing a lifecycle of support for educators, including: recruitment into the teaching profession, preparation according to Colorado licensing requirements and best-practices, mentoring to provide support in the first three years of teaching, and retention to ensure graduates stay in the profession and help guide new teachers.

The College of Professional Studies Health Institute Director Dr. Emily Matuszewicz welcomes you to MSU Denver! Come meet experts from the Health Institute and discuss how faculty and staff members are educating students to help fill critical shortages in the health industry. Visitors will receive an introduction to our first-in-the-nation undergraduate Lifestyle Medicine Program through innovative and interactive presentations focused on nutrition, addiction, nursing simulations, hearing loss and exercise. How much do you know about the “whole person” approach to health? What are innovative leading-edge ways that the Health Institute can answer this question? Matuszewicz will conclude with an overview of the Health Institute’s “Life Design” advising, which helps students determine what kind of health-related field they want to enter and guides them in developing a personalized plan to get their dream job.
