Physical Activity and Lifetime Wellness Program

Develop Healthy Habits, Increase Energy, and Reduce Your Stress!

The Physical Activity and Lifetime Wellness program at MSU Denver provides an opportunity for students to choose from a variety of classes that focus on increasing fitness, improving overall well-being and developing healthy habits. Physical activity patterns during college are important influences on habitual physical activity during the full span of the adult life and, consequently, have significant implications for short- and long- term health outcomes. Regular exercise will boost your physical and psychological well-being and can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Our classes provide a non-intimidating environment that invite people of all walks of life, abilities, and cultures to join and learn how to be the best you!

All courses include aspects of:

  • Movement and fitness
  • Reducing anxiety
  • Basic nutrition guidelines
  • Positive lifestyle behaviors

*These are 2-credit activity courses and are open to MSU Denver, CCD, and UCD Students! Up to 14-credits can be applied toward graduation requirements

The Lifetime Fitness courses have a stronger fitness focus but maintains the foundational principles of phsyical activity for lifetime health and wellness. All classes will include developing a personal plan to guide you in achieving your fitness and healthy living goals.

Lifetime Fitnesss courses include:

  • Weight Training I & II
  • Weight Training for Women
  • Total Fitness
  • Stretch and Strength
  • Walking/Jogging (coming soon!)

Martial Arts courses offer a variety of benefits, including reducing stress and axiety, encouraging tenacity while developing perseverance, and the development of self defense skills.

The Martial Arts courses offered include:

  • Tae Kwon Do
  • Tai Chi
  • Fencing
  • Jui Jitsu for Self Defense (coming soon!)

This category of courses allows for a broad spectrum of courses that are based off a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection necessary for lifetime wellness. 

Physical Wellness courses offered include:

  • Stress Management
  • Hatha Yoga
  • Yoga for Anxiety Management
  • Yoga for Weight Management
  • Pilates
  • Well-Fit Body Management
  • Introduction to Well-Being

If you enjoy music, movement, and personal expression, you might enjoy the many benefits of dance! Flexibility, muscular endurance, and overall body coordination are benefits derived from a fun and artistic approach to health.

Dance courses offered include:

  • Belly Dancing
  • Hip Hop
  • Ballet
  • Jazz
  • Tap
  • Modern Dance

Recreational Pursuit courses include:

  • Golf
  • Tennis
