Stress & Time Management


In order to avoid too much stress, it is best to recognize symptoms early as well as engage in stress management and reduction techniques.

Symptoms of being too stressed include:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Rapid breathing
  • Tense muscles
  • Anxiety
  • Mood swings
  • Decrease in focus
  • Lack of concentration
  • Feeling sad or depressed

Stress Reduction Techniques:

  • Read a book
  • Listen to uplifting, happy music
  • Exercise
  • Watch a movie
  • Spend time with friends and laugh
  • Play a game
  • Aromatherapy
  • Take a hot bath with bubbles
  • Take a nap
  • Get outdoors and enjoy the scenery
  • Get a new hobby
  • Meditation (yoga)

Time Management:

One of the best ways to avoid stress is by managing your time. It will help to ensure you have the proper amount of time to get something done correctly. Time management also plays an important role in not feeling rushed.

Time Management Techniques:

  • Wake-up with enough time
  • Make a to-do list and prioritize it
  • Plan ahead
  • Keep a calendar and mark when test or other projects are due
  • Get a jump start on tests or projects, do a little at a time each day
  • Pack your lunch the night before
  • Prep your school bag and outfit the night before
  • Do not schedule too many things at once or for the same time frame
  • Break up your class schedule to four days a week instead of two
