Elevate, Diversify, Collaborate
Lifestyle medicine treats the whole person. Using evidence-based lifestyle interventions such as diet, exercise, sleep, stress management and avoidance of risky substance, lifestyle medicine can prevent, treat and even reverse chronic disease. It also can slash the cost of treatment.
About 80 percent or more of all healthcare spending in the U.S. involved the treatment of conditions caused by poor lifestyle choices. MSU Denver is taking a lead in lifestyle medicine education and launching the country’s first undergraduate major and minor in the field.
With estimates indicating that two-thirds of all global disease will be caused by lifestyle choices, MSU Denver is well-positioned to train the health coaches, patient advocates and community health workers of tomorrow.
The Lifestyle Medicine curriculum encompasses many courses from multiple Health Institute Departments.
