The Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP)
The Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) allows residents of the 16-member states/ U.S territories (Alaska, Arizona, California, Gaum, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming) to request the WRGP tuition rate for graduate programs at MSU Denver. To be considered for the WRGP tuition rate, which is currently the same as in-state tuition, you must apply and be accepted into one of MSU Denver’s master’s programs or graduate level certificates. Once accepted and before the census date, you must apply by completing the WRPG PDF and returning it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please see the WRPG PDF for the information required.
If I am awarded the WRGP tuition rate, how many years is the award good for? Do I need to reapply each year?
Your enrollment in the WRGP program will be good for the entirety of your graduate program at MSU Denver.
How much tuition will I pay if I am enrolled at the WRGP rate? What would I save compared to paying full nonresident tuition?
Students who qualify for the WRGP program will be charged 100% of in-state tuition. The average savings is $221.57 per credit hour. Each of MSU Denver’s graduate programs have differing tuition rates. Please see the tuition rates for your exact savings based on program.
Can you establish residency in the state where you are attending school if you are paying the WRGP tuition rate?
No, by requesting the WRGP program, you are indicating that you are not a Colorado resident and will not establish Colorado residency during your time of attendance at MSU Denver. If you plan on establishing residency in Colorado and would like to petition for in-state benefits at MSU Denver during your time of attendance, it is recommended you do not participate in the WRGP program. WRGP students who change their residence to Colorado lose their WRGP eligibility the following semester, but do not become eligible for in-state tuition rates until one year after establishing Colorado domicile and one year after discontinuing their WRGP status
I am a resident of a WICHE state and plan to enroll in a graduate program at MSU Denver. Do I automatically pay the WRGP tuition rate?
No, after you receive an offer of admissions you must apply for the WRGP program and demonstrate eligibility. In order to be considered, please complete the WRGP application and return it to email@example.com.
No, MSU Denver does not limit the number of WRGP applications accepted. Anyone who can demonstrate residency in the WICHE region is eligible for the WRGP rate
Yes, the WRGP rate is available for all graduate students regardless of the number of credit hours they enroll in.
I got my offer of admission but haven’t been notified if I received the WRGP resident rate. What should I do?
I just learned about WRGP and already started classes. Can I apply for the WRGP rate after I’ve enrolled?
You must apply to the WRGP program prior to census. You may find the census date on the academic calendar.
Unfortunately, no. You do not qualify for the WRGP rate if you are from a state outside of the WICHE region (Alaska, Arizona, California, Gaum, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming).
Yes, all graduate programs at MSU Denver participate in WRGP regardless of delivery format.
MSU Denver does not require graduate students to demonstrate financial need to be eligible for the WRGP rate. All graduate students from the WICHIE region are eligible for the WRGP rate.
