Jose Puente puente

Jose Puente Puente (he/him/his)

I am passionate about higher education, and I hope to go to grad school after getting my bachelor’s. Outside of school, I’m a nerdy/geeky person; I like to play video games (RPGs are my favorite genre) and listen to music (any type except country lol). I am glad I get the opportunity to work with an amazing team here at First-Gen Initiatives.

Alicia Montoya (she/her/hers)

My favorite activity to do outside of school is playing my switch, spending time with my friends and family, and being outdoors. I believe education should be accessible to all, and think this organization’s mission perfectly lines up being able to make a difference in making education equal for all. I am a first-gen student, and can’t wait to support other first-gen students!

Howdy!! Araceli Palacios (They/Them/Theirs) and  I’m first gen student in my (hopefully) 4th year! I’m majoring in history and minoring in Spanish!! I’m a huge bookworm and fandom nerd! Most of my hobbies consist of artistic pursuits like singing and painting! My purpose here is to foster community within the first generation identity! On top of that, I’m here to encourage and remind the first gen students that they already are leaders!!

My favorite activities outside of school and work are hiking, painting, taking my dog on walks, and spending time with the most important people in my life! I am a first generation student myself and I simply want to help other first-gen students. I personally struggled getting the hang of things at first and it can be rough so helping other first-gen students in any way means a lot to me. I am thrilled to be a part of this team to see what we can do!!

Dominique Maes (she/her/hers)

I am a first-generation student. I enjoy being outdoors with my family and my dog whether that is volleyball in the park, camping, fishing, biking, or just exploring new scenery. I love working with children and have enjoyed many different positions as a teacher, coach, mentor, and camp instructor over the years. I am excited to engage with first generation students and their families who are navigating college for the first time. I hope to instill a sense of pride in being the first in the family to attend college while also fostering a community that is supportive and celebratory of their growth.
