The innovative and unique Bachelor of Science in Banking from MSU Denver prepares students for an interesting and secure career in the financial services industry.

MSU Denver designed the BS in Banking with substantial input from executives at banks, credit unions, and other financial services companies.

It is the only degree of its kind in Colorado and one of very few in the country. With optional concentrations in compliance and financial analysis, this degree teaches skills that are especially in-demand.

The Bachelor of Science in Banking from MSU was developed with a curriculum to prepare students with skills that are highly valued by financial institution-employers, and will allow graduates to make an immediate impact in the modern world of financial services.

A solid core, two optional concentrations

All Banking majors take major core classes on topics such as managing banking operations, risk analysis, financial markets and institutions, and personal selling.

Students also choose major electives, including one of two optional concentrations:

  • Compliance covers the culture and practice of compliance, the regulatory environment of banking, and the essentials of information security.
  • Financial Analysis teaches investment strategies, financial modeling, securities analysis, and portfolio management.

Obtained a PhD in Financial Markets and Institutions from Southern Illinois University and then worked for 11 years at University of Central Arkansas. Moved to Denver and to MSU Denver in August 2018.
