Tim Hodges, Ph.D., is Director of Research for Gallup’s Education Practice.
He consults with K-12 school districts and higher education institutions and leads research projects in strengths development, employee selection, employee engagement, and well-being.
Hodges has delivered presentations and written journal articles and technical reports on many topics, including the Clifton StrengthsFinder, strengths-based development, Positive Psychology, and leadership development. He has contributed chapters to the books Positive Psychology in Practice, Organizational Behavior (10th Edition), and the Oxford Handbook of Positive Psychology and Work. His research has appeared in the journals Educational Horizons, Organizational Dynamics, and College and University. Hodges serves as a reviewer of scholarly work submitted for publication in the Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies and has often served on review boards for regional and national academic conferences.
Hodges is a member of the board of directors of the National Career and Technical Education Foundation (NCTEF). The NCTEF board provides oversight and direction to the implementation of Career and Technical Education across the United States. He is also a member of the Career Readiness Partner Council, a group of education and policy leaders committed to ensuring that students are prepared for secondary education and the workforce.
Hodges has served as a commissioner of the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education, which reviews and recommends policies to improve and support postsecondary education at Nebraska’s 13 public postsecondary institutions. He serves on the boards for the Gallup Federal Credit Union and for Christian Heritage, an organization serving at-risk children and youth. Hodges is also the Fundraising Director at Royal Family Kids’ Camp, and his efforts help fund a summer camp for Omaha children recovering from abuse and neglect.
Hodges received a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, a master’s degree in leadership education, and a doctorate in business from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Lisa Nolan attended MSU back in 1990. She earned her B.A. in English/Language Arts and M.A in Special Education.
Over the years, Lisa has worked in many different educational roles including: Educational Assistant, Teacher, Dean, Assistant Principal, and Principal. She feels that her diverse experiences help make her a more effective leader.
Lisa and her husband have a total of 5 children, 6 grandchildren (ages 3-19), and 2 incredibly loving (but spoiled) golden retrievers named Buddy and Bella. Her family is her pride and joy. Her hobbies include: water sports, camping, music, reading and spending time with family and friends. Both Lisa and her husband regularly enjoy volunteering at St. Anthony's Hospital. She is also a proud Denver native and a huge Broncos fan.
Jesse Bott is a Visual Arts teacher at Sixth Avenue Elementary School in Aurora Colorado. Jesse spent his first four years at Monaco Elementary School in Adams 14 School District where, in his first year of teaching, received the Rookie of the Year award from the Colorado Art Education Association. He received his BFA in drawing and Licensure in K-12 Art Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver. He is a strong proponent of valuing the power of the inception and ideation process and fostering the evolution of student thought.
Amie Baca-Oehlert is a high school English teacher and counselor. She was named the Adams City High School Teacher of the Year in 2000-2001. Amie is currently on leave from her teaching duties in the Adams 12 Five Star Schools District. She earned her undergraduate degree from Clemson University and a Master's degree in school counseling from the University of Northern Colorado.
Amie started serving a three-year term as CEA Vice President in July 2012 and is currently serving her second term. She previously served as President of the District Twelve Educators' Association and as the Ethnic Minority At Large member on the CEA Board of Directors.
Amie was selected by Governor Bill Ritter to serve as one of three teacher representatives on the P-20 Council, serving from 2008-2010. Beginning in 2010, she was appointed by Governor Ritter as one of four teachers to serve on the State Council of Educator Effectiveness.
Amie is passionate about advocating for the rights of public school educators. She resides in the Thornton area with her husband, who is also a public school administrator and licensed teacher, and her three children.
Jorge García is the Executive Director of the Colorado Association for Bilingual Education, a non-profit educational corporation. He has served as the director of the BUENO Policy Center located at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He is a former attorney and a Colorado educator with 30 years of experience as a teacher, central office coordinator and director, school principal, and university instructor. His work with both local and national non-profit organizations has focused on advocacy for emerging bilingual students and educational excellence and equity for students and families.
Summit 2016 Recap
The theme for this year's Summit was Perspectives, Priorities, and Practice in Teaching. Attendees were comprised of members of the Denver education community, including legislators, lawmakers, higher education faculty and administration, P-12 principals, teachers, and even high school students. The morning was filled with meaningful conversations, intriguing presentations, and collaborative discussions on making changes in the world of education.
Dr. Tim Hodges, Director of Research for Gallup’s Education Practice, delivered an invigorating keynote presentation titled "Great Students, Great Schools, Great Jobs, and Great Lives: Lessons Learned from Gallup’s Research in Education and Beyond". Dr. Hodges highlighted data relating to what makes a great teacher, what makes teaching a great job, and how great teachers improve the lives of children and communities. World Café: Moving Practice Forward
Participants were asked to think about and discuss what actions they would take next, based on ideas that resonated for them in the morning. Using the "World Café" conversation protocol, we exchanged ideas by moving the dialogue from one table to another. By cross pollinating our ideas for future action, we gleaned new perspectives, synthesized our thinking, and energized our desires to make change in our individual educational contexts.
